Legislation sponsored by Sen. John Pippy (R-37) to assist counties and municipalities in responding to disasters was approved by the state Senate today.
Senate Bill 1225 will be sent to the House of Representatives for consideration.

The 2008 Arson Awareness Week campaign will be observed from May 4-10. This year’s theme is “Toylike Lighters – Playing with Fire.” The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) has partnered with the United States Fire Administration (USFA), the Office of the Oregon State Fire Marshal, Fire Safe Children & Families Program, the International Association of Arson Investigators, and the Idea Bank to promote Arson Awareness Week and bring attention to this important issue.
