Truck 1(West York), Engine 13(Grantly), Engine 5-1(Lincolnway) and Truck 2(Shiloh) were due on first alarm. Engine 13 and Truck 1 arrived within 3 minutes to find heavy fire conditions in the 2nd floor of a 3 story duplex with extension into the 3rd floor. Engine 13 established a water supply and set a masterstream in place into the 2nd floor for a quick knockdown. Truck 1 positioned on side B and set the aerial to the roof and started ventilation and placed a handline into service into the rear of the 3rd floor. Engine 5-1 and Truck 2 placed several lines in service in the 2nd floor of the fire building and in exposure B.

At 1148hrs. a second alarm was requested by command bringing York City Engine 2, Engine 2-1(Shiloh) and Truck 24(Manchester Twp.) Truck 24 took position on side A of the structure and began to work the fire from the tower due to the 3rd floor of the original fire building becoming unstable.

Crews brought the fire under control at 1301hrs. With fire damage to the 2nd and 3rd floor of the original fire building and the 3rd floor of exposure B there was a lot of overhaul. Last units cleared the scene at 1658hrs.

The Fire displaced 4 families with a total of 13 adults and children. Faulty wiring in the 2nd floor of the original fire building caused the fire. Fire damage was estimated at $100,000.
