Early Saturday morning on August 28, 2004 Fire District 34 Stations 1 & 2 (Freidensburg & Summit Station) were dispatched to a reported structure fire with possible entrapment on Long Run Road. Wayne Twp. Chief 34-05 (Jason Ulsh) went responding and requested Schuylkill Haven Station 4 to respond and assist. Engine 34-10 was the first engine to arrive on scene to find a two and a half farm house fully involved. Firefighters found out the the home was abandoned and no one was trapped. An exterior attack was set up with hand lines and deck guns. Additional companies were called to assist: Schuylkill Haven Station 1 for Ladder 725 and Station 2 for Engines 732 & 733 to set up a fill site for the tanker shuttle. Fire District 47 and 53 were also called for tankers.

 This Saturday was also the day of the Schuylkill County Firefighters Convention in Pottsville. All Fire Units that were on the scene were scheduled to be in the parade. All units but a few made the convention.

 Initial reports state that a neighbor heard a car near the home and then an explosion shortly there after. A State Police Fire Marshal will investigate the cause.
