An engine from Rescue Fire Company of Susquehanna Township Dauphin County rolled onto it roof after colliding with a SUV. The apparatus was responding to a reported accident at Routes 81 and 22/322 just north of the City of Harrisburg.

The engine was traveling in emergency mode with lights and sirens fully functioning. The SUV reportedly pulled into the path of the apparatus in the area of North 6th Street and Lucknow Roads. Susquehanna Township Fire Marshal George Drees says it appears the engine operator swerved to avoid the collision, but, the truck flipped as it went over a curb. The fire truck struck the drivers side of the SUV.

Three firefighters in the apparatus were able to self extricate themselves suffering neck and back injuries. Amazingly the crew choose to ignore their our injuries and immediately started extricating the occupant of the SUV who was air lifted to Hershey Medical Center. Police have not released the names or conditions of the accident victims

Susquehanna Township is Harrisburg’s Northern most neighbor and is protected by 3 Fire Companies operating out of four stations. The engine involved in the roll over operates out of Rescue Fire Companies Station #1 which is located just blocks from the border with the City of Harrisburg. The company offers fire and rescue servers to areas of Dauphin and Cumberland Counties
