Milton, PA- On Monday February 14 at 1225 the Milton and Turbot Township fire departments were dispatched to a single vehicle MVA with entrapment on SR 147. First arriving chiefs found a Plymouth Voyager that had left the roadway and traveled several hundred feet before coming to rest on its passenger side with the roof wrapped around a tree. Three children in the back seats were removed by bystanders, two with moderate injuries. The driver self extricated and was walking around the scene. The seriously injured female passenger was on her side in a fetal position with her legs pinned between the door and dashboard.

After stabilizing the car crews used the X-Tractor cutters to cut both A-posts. Sawzalls were then used to cut across the roof at the tree to gain access. The rams were then utilized between the tree and dash to gain enough room to free the passengers legs. The passenger was flown by Lifeflight to the Geisinger Medical Center.

Units on scene: Chief 1501(Shaffer), Chief 1502(Ulrich), Chief 1503(Gaugler), Rescue 15-1, Engine 15-1, Engine 17-1(Turbot Twp.), Milton Ambulance, William Cameron Engine Co. BLS, Evangelical Community Hospital ALS, Area Services MICU.
