Fatal Fire on Fairview Ave in Indiana, Pa.

On February 7, 2004 at 2230 hours the Indiana Fire Association, Indiana Pa received a call of a reported structure fire on Fairview Ave. in White Twp.  Upon arrival of Engine 104 they reported a fully involved two story apartment building.  The initial call was for two companies but soon turned into a general alarm.  There was also a report of a possible entrapment.  Once units were on scene the entrapment was confirmed and a search began.  Soon after the search was started it had to be called off due to the deteriorating conditions of the building.  After this an exterior attack was put into order all personnel were pulled out to the structure.  The fire was under control at approximately 0400 hours.  The state police fire marshall was called in to investigate and the origin was from a cigarette in the back bedroom.  The scene was cleared at approximately 0530 hours.
