Fatal Crash in Schuylkill County

On Friday Feb. 25, 2005 at 1137 hours, Schuylkill Haven Fire Stations 1 & 2 were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries and ejection on Route 61 & Manheim Rd. in the area of McDonalds in North Manheim Twp. As Chief 720 (Bob Peel) went responding, he was informed by the dispatch center there was multiple ejections. Chief 720 requested a second rescue from Fire District 56 (Orwigsburg) to assist. EMS & chief 720 arrived on scene to find a 4 car crash with 2 victims ejected. EMS requested MedEvac to fly to the White Church. Chief 720 diverted Engine 733 to the church to set up a landing zone. Medics checked the victims and found 1 to be DOA and the second would be flown out. A third victim was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Route 61  was closed for a few hours, as Pa State Police investigated the crash.
